Atomic Theory Modules

Atomic Theory I: The Early Days - This lesson introduces J. J. Thomson's discovery of the electron and E. Rutherford's planetary model of atomic structure. This is the first in a series covering modern atomic theory.
National Science Education Standard Equivalent:
Physical Science / Structure of Atoms

Atomic Theory II: Ions, Isotopes and Electron Shells - This lesson explains the presence of ions, isotopes and discusses N. Bohr's theory on the quantum behaviour of electrons. This module is the second in a series on atomic structure.
National Science Education Standard Equivalent:
Physical Science / Structure of Atoms

Matter: Atoms from Democritus to Dalton - This lesson introduces theories of the structure of matter from the time of the ancient Greeks, to Dalton's eloquent theory of the early 19th century. This module serves as the first in a series on atomic structure.
National Science Education Standard Equivalent:
Physical Science / Structure and Properties of Matter

The Periodic Table of Elements - This module introduces D. Mendeleev's theories and the modern Periodic Table. Electron configuration as a function of table placement is discussed.
National Science Education Standard Equivalent:
Physical Science / Structure of Atoms
