Absorption, Distribution and Storage of Chemicals - This module introduces the concept of biological absorption, storage and distribution of chemicals.

Adaptation: The Case of Penguins - This module introduces the concept of evolutionary adaptation and its relationship to natural selection. Pygoscelid penguins are presented as an example of animal adaptations and the research diaries of a penguin biologist are integrated into the lesson.

Carbohydrates - This module provides an introduction to the concept of carbohydrates as a macronutrient. The biochemical structure of simple sugars and complex carbohydrates are compared and contrasted.

Cells: Discovery and Basic Structure - This lesson introduces the cell as the basic structural unit of life, and details modern cell theory.

Charles Darwin I: The Origin of Species - This module introduces Darwin's Galapagos travels and an introduction to the theory of evolution as a force for biological change and diversification. This is the first in a series of modules which detail the research of Charles Darwin and evolutionary theory.

Charles Darwin II: Natural Selection - This is the second in a series of modules which detail the research of Charles Darwin and evolutionary theory. This module continues with a discussion of the processes that led to Darwin's formulation of the theory of natural selection.

Charles Darwin III: Descent with modification - This is the third in a series of modules on Darwin's work on evolution. It details the concept of descent with modification that Darwin described with the one figure originally included in Origin of Species.

DNA I: The Genetic Material - This is the first in a series of modules that discusses the discovery, structure, and function of DNA. This module focuses on the identification of DNA as the genetic material through early experiments by Fleming, and Avery, MacLeod, and McCarty.

DNA II: The Structure of DNA - This is the second module in our series describing the discovery and structure of DNA. This module discusses the main chemical features of DNA and the work that led to its discovery.

DNA III: The Replication of DNA - The third module in a series describing the discovery and structure of DNA. This module discusses the replication of DNA and the work that led to the process' discovery.

Fats and Proteins - This module provides an introdcution to the concepts of fats and proteins. The basic chemical structure of fats as triglycerides is reviewed, and an introduction to protein structure, including the peptide bond is given.

Genetics I: Mendel's Laws of Inheritance - This module is the first in a series and provides an introduction to genetics and an overview of Gregor Mendel's research.

Genetics II: Mendel's Scientific Legacy and Analysis of Multiple Genetic Traits - This module is the second in a series and provides details on Mendel's work with dihybrid crosses and independent assortment.

Taxonomy I: What's in a name? - This is the first in a series of modules that introduce species taxonomy. This module introduces Carolus Linnaeus' work.

Taxonomy II: Nomenclature: Ruling names of giants - This module discusses how taxonomic names for the genus and species categories are formed and standardized, and how the rules are bent when it comes to famous beasts, such as well known dinosaurs.
