Visionlearning Glossary

Systematic Error   Systematic error describes a bias or uncertainty in a measurement introduced by an instrumental, human, or environmental variable. Systematic error is due to an unknown, but non-random fluctuation; however, if the source of a systematic error can be identified, it can often be eliminated or controlled. Systematic error affects the accuracy of a measurement. Compare to statistical error. See the module Uncertainty.
