Adams, John Couch

Welsh astronomer, born near Launceston, Cornwall (1819-1892). He successfully predicted the existence of a then-unknown planet (Neptune) based on perturbations in Uranus' orbit. He also studied the Leonid meteor shower, successfully predicting its occurrence and proving its association with Tempel's Comet.
