Course Description

Focus on the relationships between and among the lithosphere, the hydrosphere, the atmosphere, and the biosphere with a qualitative perspective. This is a broad subject that includes minerals, rocks, volcanoes, earthquakes, floods, glaciers, and plate tectonics. Introduces geologic processes from a quantitative perspective. Students will investigate, graph, and calculate rates and scale of processes including earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and groundwater flow. Classes are a combination of lecture-hands –on and field exercises.
